Unlike traditional video games displayed on a flat screen, VR places users directly inside the game world through the use of a VR headset. This allows them to interact with objects, characters, and surroundings in a way that mimics real-life actions, creating a more engaging and lifelike experience.

Even if you’re not a gamer, you might still enjoy Virtual Reality (VR) because it offers much more than just gaming experiences!

VR can transport you to new places, offer virtual travel experiences, provide immersive educational content, allow you to explore art and culture. 

It’s a versatile technology that appeals to a wide range of interests, so you don’t need to be a “gamer” to find enjoyment in it. Whether it’s for relaxation, learning, or trying something new, there’s likely something in VR that you’ll find fun or engaging.

Yes, All of our experiences are marked during booking with their age restrictions, All Participants must be a minimum age of 7+, this is to ensure safety, comfort and understanding of the player.

No. At VRXtra, we do not allow players to play games above their age, and we follow the age rating applied by “PEGI” and “ESRB”.

If booking “Xtra Games” then each individual customer will have an age rating applied to their VR Station. When we apply this age rating, they will only be able to see games relevant to their age.

Yes! – Certain experiences have a minimum player count, and these are displayed on each experience online and in-store.

Our Xtra Games collection includes both single-player and multiplayer experiences. Each game will have its own unique easy to learn multiplayer system, if you need help getting into a multiplayer game with your friend, ask a friendly member of staff for help.

Unfortunately, No – We require each player to have their own VR headset for a booking.

No, you don’t have to pre-book online. However, this is always advised to avoid possible disappointment, as you may arrive during a peak period where we won’t be able to accommodate walk-in guests. 

We advise checking our booking system to check if there are slots available, as they show a live preview of availabilities.

You should aim to arrive at least 5–10 minutes before your booking start time. You can see your start time on your booking’s confirmation email.

For larger groups and parties (>6 players) we would recommend arriving 10–15 minutes before your booking start time to allow adequate time for any late arrivals, waivers to be signed, and games chosen for certain experiences.

Once you have booked in, ensure that you have completed the online waiver, and familiarised yourself with directions to the store. You can find directions under “How to find us?” on the store’s location page on the website.

We also recommend, if you are booking on behalf of a group of people from different households, you send them the necessary information should you be travelling separately.

You may also wish to add your booking to your personal calendar with reminders to receive updates of when to leave so you arrive within the recommended time before your booking start time, etc.

If you are arranging a booking for a large group, especially one made up of different households, we recommend that you send them the following details…

The store’s location, so they can familiarise themselves with directions to the store, parking options, and public transport routes. You can find direction under “How to find us?” on the store’s location page on the website.

The booking details such as when to arrive, the booking start time, and the name the booking has been made under, should they arrive before yourself.

All guests who are due to play at VRXtra must sign the waiver before being allowed to play. Anyone under the age of 18-years old must have a parent/guardian sign on their behalf.

The majority of VRXtra Sites will have your waiver to sign linked in your booking confirmation, so you can sign this before your experience date/time. If you haven’t signed before your experience date/time, you’ll be asked to sign it during Check-In.

There is nothing quite like VR, the immersion you will feel can sometimes feel overwhelming; we always recommend that you take each game slowly until you feel more comfortable with how to play. Alternatively, simply ask a member of staff for help, they will guide you until you feel ready to play alone.

Yes. All our bookings include an On-Boarding; this includes instructions on how to use the equipment, what experience you’ll be taking part in and what to do if you need help. Depending on the experience and group size, this can take ~5 minutes.

We will have staff members available around the venue to provide you that little Xtra help if needed.

Yes, All our VR Equipment can fit most traditional glasses, you can always pop to one of our local stores and ask to test if your glasses will fit.

Wearing headwear like hats isn’t recommended, as it can affect the fit and comfort of your VR headset. However, we understand that religious garments cannot be removed, and we will do our best to help you adjust your VR headset for a comfortable fit that accommodates your needs.

Absolutely! Everyone can enjoy Virtual Reality, regardless of mobility. Some experiences may be more challenging due to their controls and movement methods, so feel free to reach out for recommendations.

Please note that Free-Roam VR may not be suitable, as it requires participants to move around a 6.2m x 6.2m shared play space with their group.

Yes. We use effective safety systems that will alert a player when leaving a boundary. Our boundary spaces use special systems, keeping both the cables out of your way and reminding you of your safe area if you wander too far.

Unfortunately, No. We take great pride in being flexible and catering to our customers’ needs, however we cannot be held responsible for the care of a guest under the age of 16.

Due to this, we kindly ask you to remain on site for the experience duration. We would even recommend you join them! We have endless fun experiences for you to enjoy together, we guarantee it.

Not to worry. If you feel nauseous at any point of your VR experience, you can take your headset off and take a break. Please let a member of the team know so they can assist you further.

Yes! – Speak to a member of staff, and they will be able to extend your session, subject to availability and experience.

We have a huge library of games and experiences, however we can’t guarantee the availability of a specific title from our collections, even if it’s listed on our website.

If you have a game in mind that you especially would like to play, please reach out to your local store and check its availability beforehand.

Unfortunately, we do not offer gameplay recording for customers. However, if you’re spectating, you’re welcome to take photos and videos in-store. If you don’t have a spectator with you, feel free to ask a team member in-store, and they’ll be happy to take photos and videos of you using your device if they can.

Parties

All of our parties have a minimum player count; depending on the experience, the only limit is our capacity in the venue in question.

For example, if “London” has 16 VR Headsets, “London” will be able to host a party of 16!

Some experiences will have a maximum player count in a group, meaning a party of 16 players for an 8 player game will be split into two smaller 8 player groups.

Yes! – All of our venues include seating to spectate and interact with your guests.

We will always encourage adults to join in the experience, however an adult does not need to directly participate. You will however need an adult to be present during the experience on site.

Watching your guests play is always free of charge, and we encourage adults to stay and watch!

Yes! – We use effective safety systems that will alert a player when leaving a boundary. Our boundary spaces use special systems, keeping both the cables out of your way and reminding you of your safe area if you wander too far.

If you’re unable to select or add the Party Room to your booking this will be due to another booking already using the Party Room, try selecting another convenient date and time.

Certain venues will have multiple Party Rooms available to book.

You’ll receive a confirmation email from the moment the booking is paid, this will include all relevant information required and will be in the inbox of your email you provided during checkout.

If you cannot find your email confirmation in your inbox, please check your “All Mail” and “Spam” Folder, as your email provider may have moved it from your primary inbox.

If you still cannot find it, you can call or email the store you booked for, and they will be able to locate it for you within the system.

Due to large player count of parties, we kindly ask that all party guests attend your bookings location at least 10–15 minutes before your bookings time slot.

For example, if your booking is 14:00 – 15:00 then your arrival time should be 13:45.

This will be subject to the store itself. We would always recommend directly calling the store to ask if it’s suitable to arrive early to decorate.

Certain venues will clearly advise during booking if you can arrive early, otherwise please contact the store directly for more information.

Xtra Games

Yes! We have some excellent games within our collection for solo players. With a wide range of Genres, there is something for everyone. Speak to a member of our team should you want any recommendations.

Yes! We have some amazing multiplayer games available within Xtra Games. Each will have their own maximum player count, but they can range from 2 players all the way to 10 players. Speak to a member of our team should you want any recommendations.

Additionally, you are able to filter the games’ library during your session to an only see multiplayer games at 2, 4, 6 and 8 players to easily find suitable games.

Certainly – All of our team members frequently play the games offered at VRXtra to ensure they have the most up-to-date game knowledge to best assist customers, and will be able to help you and your guest(s) get into a multiplayer lobby.

Our Xtra Games library is constantly being updated with new and exciting games for our customers to experience; at the time of writing, our Xtra Games library currently has 60+ games available for our customers to play.

No. At VRXtra, we do not allow players to play games above their age, and we follow the age rating applied by “PEGI” and “ESRB”. Each individual customer will have an age rating applied to their VR Station. When we apply this age rating, they will only be able to see games relevant to their age.

We will request the player(s) age during Check-In.

No. You don’t have to decide on what game to play before arriving. You’ll be able to see all the games available to play during your session. Furthermore, you’ll have the freedom to switch between them at any time during your experience at the press of a button.

Our dedicated staff will also provide recommendations at the beginning and during your experience based on your interests, customer favourites and their own personal favourite games.

We have a huge library of games and experiences, however we can’t guarantee the availability of a specific title from our collections, even if it’s listed on our website.

Certainly! There are always staff members around to assist guests during their visit; ask them for a recommendation, and they will help you find a game that aligns with your interests, and requirements.

If you don’t enjoy a specific game within Xtra Games, you can easily return to the “Game Selection Screen” at the press of a button. From there, you can choose a different game to play.

If you are struggling with a game, let a member of staff know, and they’ll be able to help you understand the controls, and can even close your game for you should you want.

Yes! All of our team members frequently play the games offered at VRXtra to ensure they have the most up-to-date game knowledge to best assist customers, and will be able to assist you.

During your On-Boarding, they will also provide some common controls used by the majority of games.

VR Escape Rooms

No – you don’t have to decide on which VR Escape room you and your team want to play until you Check-In before your session.

We do advise you to explore what VR Escape Rooms we offer on our website and speak to your team so you have an idea of what VR Escape Rooms you like the look of. During Check-In, our team will be able to show you trailers, and give you recommendations based on your team’s interests, and age.

Unfortunately, No. At VRXtra, we do not allow players to play games above their age, and we follow the age rating applied by “PEGI” and “ESRB”.

We will request the player(s) age during Check-In.

Out of our 13 available VR Escape Rooms at the time of writing, House of Fear 01, 02, and 03 only support 2–4 players compared to the other rooms supporting 2–6 players.

If you want to all play in the same VR Escape Room, we would recommend you look at an alternative VR Escape Room that supports a higher player count. Our dedicated team will be able to give you and your team some great recommendations.

If you really want to play one of the House of Fear VR Escape Rooms, we would in this instance request you to split into a group of 2, and a group of 3 during Check-In. Each group would start at the same time, but they may finish at different times, as one group may finish before the other. We like to turn this sort of booking into a competition between the two groups for some Xtra fun!

The majority of our VR Escape Rooms support 2–6 players, with 3 titles supporting 2–4 players at the time of writing. If your group exceeds these maximum player counts, then we will split you into groups during Check-In.

Each group would start at the same time, but they may finish at different times, as one group may finish before the other. We like to turn this sort of booking into a competition between the two groups for some Xtra fun!

Not to worry, if you selected a VR Escape Room during checkout, you can change your mind on which VR Escape Room you wish to play when you arrive during Check-In.

We will always confirm these details on your arrival during Check-In; our team will be able to show you trailers, and give you recommendations based on your team’s interests, and age should you still be unsure.

During your On-Boarding you won’t be able to see the other players until we have launched your game, and you have completed the introduction, and character customisation. Once this has been done, you’ll all be able to see one another in the Pre-Lobby and during the game.

Some VR Escape Rooms will have you start in separate rooms after starting the game, where you will have to complete puzzles to reunite.

We take great pride in being flexible and catering to our customers’ needs. However, once your VR Escape Rooms has been started, we are not able to change it as it has been started and there would be too much of a time impact on your session to accommodate a full session.

If you have any concerns on your chosen VR Escape Room, let our team know during Check-In, or your On-Boarding, and we will be able to change it as the game hasn’t been started yet.

Yes! – Our VR Escape Rooms have hints built into the game via a built-in [?] symbol. Pressing this will give you an in-game text hint which will nudge you in the right direction.

Should you require a more direct hint, you can always press the [PHONE] symbol, which will alert the Operator that you are requesting their attention. They will be able to then provide you with a hint.

Certainly! – The majority of our VR Escape Rooms have a ‘Hard Mode’ which disables all hint features with the game. This will disable the [?] hint button, as well as disable the highlights of objects within the game, which normally give you visual feedback on what items are important.

You can also request the staff to not give you any hints should you so wish.

Please note that enabling ‘Hard Mode’ and requesting zero hints from our team is only recommended to seasoned players and for those who really want an Xtra Challenge!

Our VR Escape Room bookings last for 60 minutes, which includes a 10-minute onboarding/tutorial session followed by a 50-minute timer for you to complete your VR Escape Room within.

Congratulations! – Our VR Escape Rooms are designed to play like a physical escape room. Meaning that if you finish early, you’ll receive a time in how fast you completed your VR Escape Room, along with any hints and collectibles you found.

Once you complete your VR Escape Room, this does mean that your booking with us has sadly come to an end, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t speak to our team in-store to figure out your next VR Escape Room booking, or other VR Experience.

Premium Free-Roam VR

Free-Roam VR is an immersive virtual reality experience that allows participants to move freely within a shared physical space while interacting with a virtual environment.

Unlike traditional VR that limit movement to a smaller area, Free-Roam VR enables players to explore and engage with the virtual world more naturally.

Unfortunately, No. All the games offered in Premium Free-Roam VR are rated 18+, and at VRXtra, we adhere to age ratings set by “PEGI” and “ESRB”. Therefore, we do not allow players to participate in games that exceed their age rating.

No, each booking is limited to one mission. If you’d like to participate in another mission, you’ll need to make a separate booking either online or by speaking to a member of our staff in-store.

Not at all! You can browse the available missions on our website, and if you’re still unsure which one is best for you and your group, feel free to ask a team member during check-in. They’ll provide recommendations and help you find the perfect experience.

All of our Premium Free-Roam Missions accommodate 2–4 players, so a group of 5 isn’t feasible. However, if a store has multiple Free-Roam Zones, you can make two separate bookings—one for a group of 2 and another for a group of 3.

We’re sorry, but not all of our locations have the necessary space for Free-Roam Zones. However, they do offer some excellent alternatives, and you can reach out to us for recommendations. If you’re determined to try Premium Free-Roam, you can always travel to one of our other venues that do offer it.

Our Premium Free-Roam missions are primarily zombie-based shooters. Some players might find this experience frightening, as you’ll face hordes of zombies charging at you, requiring you to defend yourself with your trusty weaponry and teamwork.

The controls are fairly simple to grasp. You’ll be required to walk around your shared play space with your team, navigating the virtual environment. And use your controllers to interact with objects in the virtual world as well as shoot. Typically, this will use the “Grip” and “Trigger” buttons on both controllers.

Our Premium Free-Roam bookings and missions last 30-minutes.

If you do finish your mission early you’ll be able to use the remaining time in our horde game mode where you and your guests will have the remaining time to shoot zombies wave after wave!

Arcade Free-Roam VR

Free-Roam VR is an immersive virtual reality experience that allows participants to move freely within a shared physical space while interacting with a virtual environment.
Unlike traditional VR that limit movement to a smaller area, Free-Roam VR enables players to explore and engage with the virtual world more naturally.

Definitely! Arcade Free-Roam VR is suitable for all players aged 10-years old and up. Each experience is marked with age restrictions during booking to ensure safety, comfort, and understanding. Please note that Dead Ahead is a minimum age of 12-years old.

No, you don’t have to decide which games to play in Arcade Free-Roam until you check in before your session.

We recommend exploring the available games on our website and discussing them with your team so you have an idea of what you might enjoy. During check-in, our team will show you trailers and provide recommendations based on your group’s interests and preferences.

Unfortunately, No. Arizona Sunshine missions are part of our Premium Free-Roam offering and cannot be played as part of Arcade Free-Roam VR. If you’d like to experience this game, please let a team member know in-store during your check-in, and they’ll be happy to assist you.

Currently, there are six games you can play in Arcade Free-Roam VR: Cook’d Up!, Dead Ahead, Cyber Shock, Arrowsong, Cops vs. Robbers, and Quantum Arena. You can find detailed information about each game on our website under the “Arcade Free-Roam VR” section.

The controls in Arcade Free-Roam are very straightforward!

You’ll be required to walk around your shared play space with your team, navigating the virtual environment. And use your controllers to interact with objects in the virtual world as well as shoot. Typically, this will use the “Grip” and “Trigger” buttons on both controllers.

Before your booking starts, we’ll provide a demonstration to show the players which buttons they’ll need to use.

For the duration of your booking, it’s your choice if you wish to play the same game multiple times or if you would like to play a selection of games. The number of experiences you will get to try will depend on the length of the session booked.

We take great pride in being flexible and catering to our customers’ needs. However, once your Arcade Free-Roam game has started, we are not able to change the game as there would be too much of a time impact on your session to accommodate a full session.

Smash Point

Yes, All Participants must be a minimum age of 7+, this is to ensure safety, comfort and understanding of the player.

Yes! While the game is primarily designed for children, its various game modes and available weapons make it enjoyable for both kids and adults. It’s often played by families looking for a shooter game that’s suitable for younger children while still being fun for everyone.

This game can support up to 10 players at a time, making it the perfect option for larger groups like for a birthday party with a bunch of friends and family.

Absolutely! – Smash Point is a fantastic choice and one of our most popular options for parties, especially children’s birthday celebrations. It’s also great for stag dos and business outings, accommodating up to 10 players.

Not at all! Smash Point uses an in-game voting system, allowing players to choose their teams (Red or Blue) at the start of each round. The first round will have random teams as a tutorial, but after that, it’s up to the players to decide.

Yes, just like all of our experiences, our highly experienced team will offer a demonstration to all players that will explain the controls and ensure that everyone has an amazing experience.

The controls for Smash Point are very simple. There is a trigger used to pick up balls and fire them at the other players, and a button used for moving around the map. However, if you’re unsure you don’t need to worry as on the day we will do a demonstration of the controls to make sure everyone understands them.

Each round lasts approximately 6-10 minutes. This means that within your 30 or 60-minute session, you and your group can play multiple rounds.

After each round, players can view their scores and vote on the next game mode, teams, and map. The available game modes include Free-For-All, Team-VS-Team, and Bots-VS-Players.

We take great pride in being flexible and catering to our customers’ needs. However, once your Smash Point experience has been started, we are not able to change the game as there would be too much of a time impact on your session to accommodate a full session.

Gift Cards

Yes, unfortunately, Gift Cards do expire. They are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Currently, we do not offer physical Gift Cards. However, if you’d like to give a more tangible gift, you can print the confirmation email sent to the recipient and present it in a physical format.

Yes! You can visit us in-store and purchase a gift card from reception from one of our dedicated team members. They’ll be able to advise you on recommended values for a gift card, should you be purchasing one to accommodate multiple visits / guests.

Yes, the minimum amount is £1.00, and the maximum is £10,000.00. However, if you plan to purchase a card for the maximum value, we recommend contacting the store directly, as they may be able to offer you a special deal.

No – A Gift Card is only valid for the VRXtra Store it was purchased at. This cannot be changed, so ensure when purchasing a Gift Card you select the store you intend the recipient of the Gift Card to visit.

Yes, you can use multiple Gift Cards for the same booking, making it easy for a group of friends to combine their Gift Cards.

No – As stated in our Terms & Conditions, “All Gift Card Sales are Final and Non-Refundable”.

You can view your original Gift Card balance in your booking confirmation email. Alternatively, you can contact a team member by phone, email, or in-store, and they will be happy to check the remaining balance for you.
